|||||||||||||||
| This is the website of JOHN W. DAWE. | |||||||||||||||
| E.B.U. certified (?) TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR (by the skin of my teeth) | |||||||||||||||
| HONORARY TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR at THE DEVA BRIDGE CLUB | |||||||||||||||
| PRESIDENT of the HAWARDEN BRIDGE CLUB | |||||||||||||||
| The aim of this site is to assist Tournament Directors in running Duplicate Bridge sessions. | |||||||||||||||
| It will be especially of value to newly accredited T.Ds and also of value for T.Ds to run | |||||||||||||||
| movements with which they are not familiar. | |||||||||||||||
| The site is best viewed in Internet Explorer. Other search engines may not show the site properly. | |||||||||||||||
| For instance Google does not open up with the Home Page but with lines of print. These may be | |||||||||||||||
| clicked on to open a page and then click on HOME to open the Home Page. | |||||||||||||||
| The TABLE LAYOUTS are for the T.D. to lay out the boards ready for round 1. | |||||||||||||||
| A N/S Shunt is an alternative method of accommodating a 1/2 table an example of which is:- | |||||||||||||||
| say 11 1/2 tables. The initial sitting out pair are numbered N/S 12. After round 1 they replace | |||||||||||||||
| the N/S pair at the highest number table (in this case 11 ), next round N/S 11 replace N/S 10 | |||||||||||||||
| and so on. | |||||||||||||||
| If anyone has a suggestion or request for inclusions on the site please e-mail me at | |||||||||||||||
| john@mybridgeuk.com | |||||||||||||||
| T.D.AIDE MEMOIRE. | |||||||||||||||
| I have created these in A4 format. The Aide Memoire may be used during a TD course. | |||||||||||||||
| 2 TABLE HOWELL AT HOME | |||||||||||||||
| A 2 table BRIDGE session at home can be very enjoyable. Without the experience of a qualified | |||||||||||||||
| T.D. present players may be unfamiliar with the LAWS of BRIDGE. Even though you are playing | |||||||||||||||
| a friendly game you should play in accordance with the LAWS. The T.D AIDE MEMOIRE will be | |||||||||||||||
| of benefit in deciding the more common errors encountered in bidding and play. | |||||||||||||||
| HOWELL MOVEMENTS | |||||||||||||||
| The movements for tables 3 to 12 (inclusive) | |||||||||||||||
| TEAMS | |||||||||||||||
| There are a number of Teams movements.Here I have included Table Cards for the | |||||||||||||||
| AMERICAN WHIST DOWN movement. | |||||||||||||||
| If any club would like Table cards for another movement putting the site I can do this if I | |||||||||||||||
| have a copy of it. | |||||||||||||||
| PART PIVOT TEAMS | |||||||||||||||
| If anyone can e-mail me a copy of MAX BAVINS newsletter outlining the method whereby North | |||||||||||||||
| remains and plays with only 2 out his other 3 team members It would be of great help. | |||||||||||||||
| MAX BAVIN unfortunately does not have a copy. | |||||||||||||||
| FULL PIVOT TEAMS | |||||||||||||||
| I have created these movements from the newsletter by MR MAX BAVIN. | |||||||||||||||
| Playing TEAMS is very popular. PIVOT TEAMS is an extension of the game whereby, with a team | |||||||||||||||
| of 4 players, NORTH remains in place throughout the game. At intervals the team members rotate | |||||||||||||||
| resulting in each member playing with every other member. | |||||||||||||||
| At present I have included 4 tables & 6 tables to 18 tables.I hope to create from 2,3 & 5 tables. | |||||||||||||||
| At the Deva we hold an annual Pivot Teams competition consisting of a 3 hour Qualifying Round. | |||||||||||||||
| The 1st 4 teams qualify for the a 12 board Semi Final. | |||||||||||||||
| Then on another evening the 1st 2 Teams play in a 12 board Final. | |||||||||||||||
| The same evening the 2 losing Semi-Finalists play in a 12 board play-off for 3rd place. | |||||||||||||||
| The table cards are in this section | |||||||||||||||
| HESITATION MOVEMENTS | |||||||||||||||
| The movements are for 5,6,8,10 and 11 tables | |||||||||||||||
| DOUBLE MITCHELL MOVEMENTS | |||||||||||||||
| The movements are for 15 1/2-16,17 1/2-18 & 19 1/2-20 tables. | |||||||||||||||
| Also here are movements for 16 1/2, 18 1/2 & 20 1/2 tables which involve a N/S Shunt. | |||||||||||||||
| These movements are ideal for the tables quoted in that they allow the pairs to play a higher percentage | |||||||||||||||
| of the boards in play. | |||||||||||||||
| For example:- 16 tables - 24 boards - every pair play every board = 100% | |||||||||||||||
| Whereas normally 16 tables - 32 boards - pairs play 24 boards = 75% | |||||||||||||||
| I have not yet worked out DOUBLE MITCHELL MOVEMENTS for 17,19 or 21 Tables | |||||||||||||||
| APPENDIX MITCHELL MOVEMENTS | |||||||||||||||
| These movements are for 17, 19 & 21 tables. | |||||||||||||||
